Basil Hayden’s Veteran’s Day Salute

Beginning in 1954 when President Dwight Eisenhower signed a bill proclaiming November 11th as Veteran’s Day, America stands together on the same day each year to celebrate our veterans and to thank those who serve our country for their loyal service. Max Wastler, Basil Hayden’s® “Cultural Bloodhound” dug a little deeper to find out how Americans honor their veterans. Did you know that at exactly 11:00 am, a color guard made up of members from each branch of the U.S. military honor those lost in war during a ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery? It does’t stop there, similar moments are enacted all across the country as Americans come together to honor both the fallen and the living veterans that have kept our country and our citizens free.

There is no better way to toast America’s heroes than with Basil Hayden’s Old Fashioned Salute, a classic Old Fashioned cocktail that mixes the spicy, trademark finish of Basil Hayden’s with the added flavor of sugar, tart cherry and orange for a spicy take on a classic. This Veteran’s Day, show your patriotism and raise a glass to those who deserve to be honored with America’s Native Spirit – Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon.
