Hermosa Beach was host to FinFest, The official kick off to SHARK WEEK 2014 and Male Standard was in attendance. Last year’s SHARK WEEK emerged as the most watched in the franchise’s 26-year history with over 53 million viewers watching.
Discovery Channel’s FINFEST Officially Kicks Off SHARK WEEKThe event was a celebration in all things shark which included a 60-foot mechanical shark, lovingly referred to as ‘Sharkzilla’, who chomped anything thrown in it’s mouth.
SHARK AFTER DARK’S wise-cracking sidekick, Bob The Shark (Bob Oschack), was in attendance. When asked why SHARK WEEK has become such as phenomenon he said, “After so many years, SHARK WEEK still has something that makes you go, Whoa!”

Live bands performed in a shark mouth-shaped stage including: The John Butler Trio, Common Sense, Matt Costa Band, The Groove Trotter and a special SURPRISE appearance by ‘Mr. Margaritaville’, Jimmy Buffett.
The weekend will wrap with an exclusive screening of a brand-new, highly anticipated special, in Hermosa Beach, quite possibly the best place to catch the first night of Shark Week!
