KD8: Kevin Durant’s Most Innovative Nike Shoe

The KD8 is potentially a groundbreaking sneaker for two very important features: a Flyweave upper and a full-length Zoom Air unit. These elements are two technical firsts for a basketball sneaker and work together to provide Durant with a versatility, fit and responsiveness. This Zoom Air unit specifically designed for Kevin, has strategically placed notches with responsive cushioning in the forefront and heel to move naturally with his foot. Since Durant feels that his athletic traits are similar to a Sabertooth, Nike created an exclusive heel design for the KD8 that mimics a sabertooth’s fangs keeping Durant’s foot locked in and stable.

The KD8 July 4th colorway sticks to the traditional patriotic red, white and blue palette. Along with his love for the holiday, it’s also a reminder for Durant to push himself during the summer off-season. You can expect the versatility of Flyweave construction with its explosive firework-inspired pattern in this colorway. The KD8 V8 is the second colorway and it’s inspired by Durant’s Camaro he had customized in 2010. The bold, matte red V8 car attracted Durant with its speed and power, and serves as a lasting memory of hard work paying off.

The KD8 retails for $180 and is available from Nike.com
