Men's Grooming Shaving Tips

Product Review: Philips Norelco OneBlade

The Norelco OneBlade is not a shaver. It was created to trim, edge, and shave any length of hair. It isn’t a razor masquerading as a all-in-one trimming tool; it is the trimming tool.

To put it to the test, I asked my most bearded of friends, Matt Stewart (pictured below) to use it and share his honest, candid opinion of what this product performs like “in the wild.” This is his story.

“As soon as I got home after receiving the OneBlade I went straight for the mirror. I had to try this thing and figure it out. The razor is very different from others. The blades on the OneBlade aren’t at an angle like a typical razor, to use it you hold it completely flat and go AGAINST the grain.

“The razor was smooth and I had no need to use any water or shaving cream. The fact that you can use it as a detailer by using it perpendicular to your face it super handy. There is also the ability to attach grooming combs to trim your scruff to a desired length. The OneBlade is super convenient and does what it needs to.

“The OneBlade is exactly the grooming tool I’ve been looking for. The razor blade-like design makes it easy to maneuver even under the nose and the edges of the jaw where other trimmers have trouble. The 5 guard trimmed my beard down nicely, and it was pretty long. I was skeptical at first if it would be able to handle it without trimming the beard down further, but the OneBlade handled it like a champ.

“It is great for trimming body hair as well. I won’t get too specific, but the small design makes it easy to get every nook and cranny without having to go over the same spot multiple times.

“I used the 1 guard and then the blade itself as an edger and it perfectly trimmed down to the ideal stubble for me. I don’t like a baby fresh shave, so this trimmer getting it down to about a 2-3 day stubble look is perfect.

“You would only have to use another grooming item if you want a close, clean shave, or if your beard/hair is more than 2” long.

“All-in-all, the OneBlade does the job that I had 2-3 other grooming tools doing and it is half the cost of my other electric razor. For $34.99 I got a blade that lasts for up to four months and three trimming combs. Very affordable.”
